Monday, December 7 was a beautiful evening for our second annual SOuthFOrtMyers Holiday Wine Night. The weather was especially cooperative, which was amazing since temperatures have been in the mid 80s lately here in Southwest Florida. The guests were officially welcomed by the holiday wine bears and Santa Claus.
Twenty seven women enjoyed each other’s company and an overflowing variety of holiday appetizers and desserts. But do not let us forget the most important part of the evening — the holiday cheer ! Wine was served on the lanai by the koi pond since it was such a perfect evening to be out under the stars. And of course, Chuck our “wine server” was the perfect host as he offered everything from A to Z – albarino to zinfandel! There was cabernet sauvignon, chardonnay, shiraz, viognier, zinfandel, and even carmenere and a zweigelt!
Most of our regular wine night guests were here as well as several new to the group, but thanks to everyone’s camaradie we were all good friends by the end of the evening. There always seems to be a surprise guest and this event’s special mystery guest joined us all the way from Centennial, Wyoming. Centennial is a quaint historic community 27 miles west of Laramie – so the website says!
Since we were all fortunate enough to be able to share this evening together, it seemed quite appropriate to give something to others in the community, so the request went out for contributions of non-perishable foods and toiletries for the Harry Chapin Food Bank. Thanks to everyone for their wonderful outlay of the actual items pictured below plus cash donations. The SUV was quite full as the delivery was made on December 8 to the Food Bank.
Happy holidays to everyone as this very trying year comes to a close. May 2010 bring prosperity to all, and may we all still have our friends and good cheer.
Chuck and Linda are now busy planning their March 2010 adventure in Napa and Sonoma, so see you in the spring!
